When you brake, the first thing to be involved is the pedal. The whole process starts with the pressure you apply with your foot. Depending on your actions, you can lower the moving speed, keep it steady when you are descending, or stop completely.

Your brake pedal works by closing the callipers to press the disc pads and widening the shoes to push them against the drums. This system is fitted on all four wheels. In order to offer comfort and safety, our pedals are made with maximum respect for ergonomic standards.

In all cars equipped with a hydraulic braking system, the brake pump works to ensure you the right braking at the right time. Technically called the master cylinder, this component can convert applied physical pressure on the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure.

The heart of the drum brake consists of a rotating cylinder, the drum, and of one or more strips made from friction material called shoes.

The brake holder plate has one or two hydraulic cylinders equipped with pistons. When braking, the brake pump pushes the hydraulic fluid towards the cylinders, moving the pistons that push the shoes against the drum surface, thus causing deceleration and wheel stoppage.

The flexible hoses that connect the brake pump with the calipers or drums send the hydraulic pressure to pads or shoes, letting you slow down or stop your car. Subject to strong dynamic requests, they ensure that your braking system works properly even in extreme conditions because they can resist bending and lengthening, oil, fuel, other environmental influences and strong thermal changes.

A loss of effectiveness and brake fluid can happen when these hoses are worn, and it is because of the stress they are subject to, we would like to remind you to have them inspected regularly, at least every 2 years. A brake hose that is too old can require a dangerously higher braking distance to that needed to avoid collisions.

So checking its status regularly is vitally important.

The brake fluid in fact has to resist boiling so steam bubbles don’t form in the system. It has to have an exact viscosity index so the system functions even at low temperatures, it has to be capable of absorbing humidity that enters into the braking system and it has to lubricate to keep rust from forming in the system.

The condenser is a heat exchanger which cools and liquefies the coolant gas coming from the compressor.
The condenser is located at the front of the vehicle, in front of or next to the radiator.
Under normal usage conditions, the condenser does not need to be replaced throughout the vehicle's lifetime. Given its position, however, it can be easily damaged in the case of a front impact.
The use of sub cooling modules are now used more often , which as well as offering a condensing function, also act as a drier.

There are two kinds of filters, depending on whether the system is the dry or wet kind: respectively, the drier filter and the accumulator. The first serves to filter solid particles, preventing the expansion valve from clogging, and dries the cooling gas. The second has to make sure that only coolant in gaseous form reaches the compressor. When you change the compressor always remember to replace the drier filter too.

If you let a gas closed under pressure leak out, it undergoes a sharp drop in pressure and when it expands, it causes cooling. An example? Think of a normal spray can: if you let out all its contents, in a few seconds it gets colder and colder until it freezes. In an air conditioning system, this is pretty much what the expansion valve does: it regulates the coolant flow and temperature.

Identical to the condenser in design, the evaporator has the opposite function. Inside it, the coolant goes from liquid to gas, absorbing the heat from the environment. The air that goes through its flaps is cooled, moves through the passenger compartment filter, and gets to you via the air ducts.

Made in ever more resistant materials, like nylon, neoprene and fibreglass, this type of belt is toothed on the inner part. Each tooth is shaped to perfectly match the camshaft pulley and the crankshaft.
Toothed belts have several advantages: they do not require lubrication and are notably quiet as there is no contact between metal parts.

Remember that they must never be folded, twisted or forced because they contain fibreglass that could be damaged if subject to stress. Having it checked regularly is fundamental to preventing its accidental breakage, causing damage to the engine.

The roller chain has the same functional features as the toothed belt except for the means with which the timing shaft pulley motor was made.

The belt performs a fundamental role in the timing because it creates the ideal conditions so the alternator and climate control compressor work better.
